CHORES
Children’s Health Organization Relief and Educational Services
The Children’s Health Organization Relief and Educational Services (CHORES) is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian children’s health organisation based in Jacksonville, Florida.
Founded in 1989, CHORES is comprised of paediatricians, pediatric surgeons and anesthesiologists, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric physical, occupational, and speech therapists, prosthetic specialists, engineers, contractors, and educators—all willing to donate their time and expertise to assist with children’s health care globally.
Our volunteers hail from all corners of the United States, but the heart of CHORES lies in the local pediatric community. In 1993, a support group for CHORES was established in Grenada, bringing together a diverse group of twelve members from various sectors of the Grenadian community.
Its twelve members were selected from a broad spectrum of the Grenadian community. Dr. Beverly Nelson is its chairperson, and our own Ms. Margaret Valerie Lucy-Ann Wilkinson is a founding member.
This group was formed to fundraise and support Grenada’s CHORES projects.
LFG
Lupus Foundation of Grenada
The Lupus Foundation of Grenada (LFG) is a non-profit, non-sectarian health organisation that was formed in February 2003 under the name “The Marilyn Hurley Fund for The Lupus Foundation of Grenada Inc.”
The Foundation’s focus is, among other things, to bring relief to persons suffering from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and to sponsor programs to provide funds for scientific investigations into the cause of SLE in Grenada and for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of SLE.
In July 2010, the LFG successfully hosted its first annual Butterfly Gala to assist in its fundraising efforts. World Lupus Month is celebrated annually in May, and World Lupus Day is celebrated annually on 10th May. The Foundation is open to all persons suffering from chronic illnesses and auto-immune diseases.
