Ernest Clarence Wilkinson, Q.C., familially known as E.C. and Wilkie, was born in St. Thomas, Barbados and relocated to Grenada in 1951. He served in the Grenada Public Service from 1953 to 1980 across various governmental departments, and held positions including Registrar of Grenada, Chief Registrar of the Windward & Leeward Islands, and Registrar of the Court of Appeal. During his tenure as a public servant, Mr. Wilkinson pursued and obtained an LL.B (Hons.) in 1964 from Gray’s Inn in London, United Kingdom, reflecting his dedication to advancing his legal knowledge and expertise.

In 1980, he established his practice as a sole practitioner under Ernest C. Wilkinson Chambers. A man of exceptional professionalism and commitment to the legal field, his practice expanded into Wilkinson, Wilkinson & Wilkinson, earning a reputation for efficiency and providing sound legal advice and representation.

An avid golfer and tournament champion, Mr. Wilkinson significantly contributed to the Grenadian community, sitting on multiple boards including Jonas Browne & Hubbards and Netherlands Insurance and was a founding member of St. Mary’s Junior School. The name of E.C. Wilkinson stood for excellence in professional endeavours, significant contributions to the community, and leading a fulfilling personal life. E.C.’s lasting impact on the legal field, community service, and personal interests is a testament to his enduring legacy in Grenada.
